Operational notification #34: Port Drive Upgrade – Changed traffic conditions and detours from 13 August 2017
Posted on Wednesday, 02 August 2017 (Archive on Friday, 02 February 2018)
Sunday 13 August 2017 to Saturday 30 September 2017, Port Drive southbound between Bulk Terminal Drive and Lucinda Drive Bridge will be closed to traffic. All traffic leaving Fisherman Islands will be diverted via Lucinda Drive during this time
The closure of Lucinda Drive Bridge northbound will remain in place until 30 September 2017, i.e. the bridge remains one way southbound.
Visitors to the Whyte Island boat ramp are advised to follow the detour via Bulk Terminal Drive roundabout, Bishop Drive and Lucinda Drive to reach their destination. Boat ramp users are advised that, as an alternative, the nearest boat ramp is at Manly off Fairlead Crescent, Manly QLD 4179 or at Wynnum Creek boat ramp, 2B Glenora Street, Wynnum QLD 4178.
We thank you for your patience during this important work, which when complete, will enhance the capacity of the Port’s road network and improve travel times to and from the Port. We appreciate that these detours may be an inconvenience, but they are essential to ensure road user and worker safety as well as ensuring a timely project completion.
What to expect
- Traffic leaving Fisherman Islands via Lucinda Drive may experience some traffic delays
- The weight restriction on Lucinda Drive Bridge will be temporarily lifted for ‘permitted’ over-sized over mass vehicles during the detour
- The detour will be in place 24 hours a day
- Signage will be in place to direct traffic via the detour
- Journey times may be increased to up to 8 minutes via the detour.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time for their journeys, obey signage and adhere to speed limits throughout the construction site.
A map of the detour is also available from the project website.
