University of Queensland Partnership

PBPL and The University of Queensland (UQ) joint research partnership

Initiated in 2015, this partnership provides a total of $2 million over three years to develop a joint research program exploring trade, transport economic, geotechnical and environmental opportunities as well as the challenges facing a growing port.

UQ’s Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology and the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law have developed the research program with opportunities for post-doctoral researchers as well as post-graduate and undergraduate students.

As a world-class infrastructure asset, the Port of Brisbane is continually growing and constantly seeking practical, sustainable and efficient solutions to help build capacity.

In partnering with UQ, PBPL will benefit from the University’s first-class research and engineering capabilities to complement our in-house expertise. The outcomes of the research programs will feed back to PBPL’s strategic planning and projects, putting evidence-based research into practice.
